Jon Goes On…Survive and Thrive Like an Oompa-Loompa

When I feel swallowed whole by a Vermicious Knid and just kinda blue, I look to my little green-haired, orange-skinned friends the Oompa-Loompas for inspiration:

You may seem small and insignificant but everyone has a purpose and is of value.
Willie Wonka recognized the talent and value of the Oompa-Loompas and offered them sanctuary at the Wonka Factory. When your world is getting you down, seek out the Wonkas in your life to lift you up. These are the people who like you for who you are—you’ve got nothing to prove to them and they are just glad to have you in their lives. “Mom and Dad, I’m coming home for a visit!”

If your current situation isn’t working, move along and start fresh.
It ends up that Loompaland was just too isolated and dangerous for the Oompa-Loompas to thrive…even survive. If your current situation feels too isolating and lonely, change it up! I don’t necessarily mean that you have to pick up and move out of the area—sure, in some instances that might be the ticket, but just changing your routine can help to stir things up and might lead you to a fresh opportunity.

Collaboration and contribution as a team can have sweet rewards.
Together, the Oompa-Loompas ran Wonka’s factory and their reward was an abundance of chocolate, their favorite food! There’s power and reward in working together towards a creative goal. Look for ways to collaborate beyond performance…co-create new ways of marketing and promotion, for example. Pooling skills and talents for everyone’s mutual benefit makes so much sense…just don’t forget the Hershey’s Miniatures.
