Playing with Cardboard Box

Jonathan Murphy’s favorite gift as a kid? Power Ranger action figures? Wrong…Darkwing Duck videos? Nope…(although those were in the top 10). Okay, the photo is a dead giveaway…Jonathan loved the cardboard box! Imagine his delight in discovering a theater company founded on the imaginary possibilities of a cardboard box? The Cardboard Box Theatre Project is all about out-of-the-box theater featuring the work of new playwrights.

“My sister, Molly Murphy, has been a part of Cardboard Box from the beginning,” says Jonathan Murphy. “I’ve seen several of their shows…they are risk takers and a really talented group. I’m a fan! It was fun to perform with some of them as a goofy gnome in Chad Eschman’s quirky play.”

Check out the video clip of Lawn Gnome Love…performed by Jonathan Murphy, Chad Eschman and Molly Murphy at the Villa Montalvo Sculpture on the Grounds Celebration.
